Micro parks for Schiedam

The Municipality of Schiedam has built 5 mini parks in collaboration with the Laboratory of Microclimates. The source of inspiration was of course the well known 'BijBinnenhofpark' in The Hague. The challenge was the kick-off for greening the city, which was certainly necessary.
Five different teams from the municipality of Schiedam carefully designed and manufactured the five mini-parks during a workshop by LfM.
The team who created the most climate-adaptive park was the winner of the much desired 'Golden Spade'

After this 'challenge', the Laboratory for Microclimates has placed the five parks at designated locations in the city of Schiedam. After selecting the best location for depaving and installation, an official presentation of the mini-park followed. The new 'adoption organizations' have signed a document guaranteeing care and maintenance for the new mini-parks. For a mini park cycle route through Schiedam visit the following addresses;
